ABOUT
In 2007, I launched my eponymous brand, Bérangère Claire, with the somewhat daring desire to be among the first French designers to venture online. Very quickly, artists and the first influencers trusted me and joined me on this adventure. For eight years, I designed collections for men and women, guided by the same idea: to build a simple, sincere, and sustainable wardrobe.
Clothes that make you feel good, that you slip on without thinking, but that always add that touch of understated elegance. Essentials that stand the test of time, far from fleeting trends, to offer easy, beautiful, and accessible fashion.
It was during a road trip from Cork to Connemara that I became interested in the Irish sweater. This simple, thick garment, made to protect against wind and humidity, also conveys a kind of naive mystique. Each pattern has a meaning: the honeycomb stitch for work, the Irish stitch for strength, and the diamond stitch for wealth.
The collection continues with shirts, the true signature of my brand, reworked in new cuts and embroidered with a revisited crest. Each piece is made in Portugal in limited editions, they are made from fabrics produced in Spain: linen, cotton and denim. Each model has been designed to adapt to different body shapes, these shirts give everyone the freedom to choose the cut that suits them best.
The next part of the collection consists of shirts, the DNA of my brand, with new cuts and a new crest. The shirts are all made in Portugal and in small quantities. The fabrics, linen, cotton, and denim, are made in Spain. They have been designed to adapt to different body shapes. However, you are free to choose the cut that suits you best!
The collection is sold exclusively online in order to offer a fair price.
September 2024 marked a pivotal milestone: the rebirth of Bérangère Claire. This return is not just that of a brand, but that of a vision and a state of mind. Today, as yesterday, I want to offer you clothes that transcend trends, pieces that are beautiful, elegant, and timeless.
My desire is to create a wardrobe that will stay with you for a long time, that will be part of your stories and the moments of your life. Each creation is guided by a conviction: a garment only has meaning if it resembles you, if it offers you the renewed pleasure of wearing it, again and again.
Born on the Aran Islands in the late 19th century, it was first designed for fishermen braving the cold and damp Atlantic. Woven from pure new wool or merino wool, it offered warmth and durability. And then, as is often the case, the item lost its original purpose. In the 1950s and 1960s, images of celebrities—Grace Kelly on a yacht, Marilyn Monroe during a photoshoot, Steve McQueen in "The Thomas Crown Affair"—were enough to transform this utilitarian garment into a global icon.
Today, each Irish sweater perpetuates this dual heritage: that of ancestral know-how and that of a look that has become universal. Wearing it means warming yourself with soft, durable wool, but also with a living tradition, at the crossroads of history and legend.
